Hearts First Ambulance Training Manager
At Hearts First Ambulance Training Ltd, our company value is “we practice what we teach.” Our training is rooted in real-world, up to date clinical practice and backed up by regular frontline ambulance service delivery.
We provide high-quality pre-hospital care courses to individuals and businesses across the UK. Our training department also forms an integral part of the Hearts First Ambulance (HFA) operational ambulance service, delivering compliance training, assessments, and refresher courses for our road staff.
We are now seeking an experienced and motivated Training Manager to lead, develop, and quality-assure this vital function of the business.
The Role
This is a full-time, permanent position, based in Radlett, Hertfordshire, with varied hours in line with the needs of the business. The role combines clinical credibility, educational leadership, and operational understanding, ensuring all training reflects current best practice and supports safe, effective patient care.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the delivery of clinical, pre-hospital care and mental health training programmes
Development and deliver new and innovative training courses to maximise areas of revenue in conjunction with Senior Leadership Team.
Oversee and deliver compliance training, assessments, induction and refresher courses for HFA ambulance road staff
Ensure all training meets regulatory, awarding body, and internal quality standards
Support, mentor, and assess trainers and assessors
Maintain compliance with Qualsafe and other awarding organisations
Contribute to curriculum development, continuous improvement, and innovation
Act as a professional ambassador for Hearts First Ambulance Training and develop new business opportunities.
Essential Requirements
Applicants must meet all of the following:
- Registered Paramedic (HCPC)
- Minimum 3 years’ NHS Trust frontline experience as a Paramedic
- Level 3 Award in Education and Training (RQF) or equivalent
- Level 4 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA)
- Level 3 Award in Teaching and Assessing Mental Health (RQF)
Preferred Requirements
- Be registered with Qualsafe as a trainer

Non Emergency PTS Staff
Hearts First Ambulance Service have new opportunities to join our Non-Emergency Patient Transport Service and develop your career in the private ambulance service.
We are looking for enthusiastic and dedicated people who will be the reassuring presence for patients, ensuring their safe and comfortable transportation offering support and assistance with mobility when needed. The role involves driving, or assisting as part of a crew, patients with different requirements based on their mobility. You will be required to drive a variety of vehicles, including cars and ambulances.
As part of our recruitment and compliance process you will be required to undertake a driving assessment and a regular Drug and Alcohol Test and successfully complete our in-house skills assessment day. You will also need a clear Enhanced DBS Certificate issued within the last 12 months or be subscribed to the DBS update service.
Essential / Experience:
- At least 2 years’ experience of driving with a full UK manual driving license - (No more than 3 endorsement points)
- Must have a valid FREC 3 Qualification Certificate (in date)
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
- To be flexible, approachable, calm, enthusiastic, honest and have integrity.
- Applicants require excellent communication skills and a good level of English (spoken and written).
- Physical Fitness Requirement: A high level of physical fitness is essential for success in this role. Your responsibilities will include manual handling. Being in excellent physical condition is crucial to ensure that you can provide rapid and effective medical care to those in need.
- We support the NHS every hour of every day and so we need people who can work at weekends as required.
Responsibilities:
- You will be responsible for transporting patients to and from hospitals, clinics and other healthcare facilities and ensuring they are safe and well cared for.
- Working as a single or double crew, responsible for either driving the ambulance or supporting the travelling patient.
- Use of carry chairs, stair climbers, wheelchairs, stretchers, and scoops.
- Ensure patients have a safe, smooth journey, complying with all relevant traffic legislation and driving with consideration for other road users.
- Maintaining the ambulance equipment and supplies, ensuring they are clean and in good working condition.
- Ensure that all patients are treated with dignity and respect in communications and actions, in particular taking account of cultural differences and disability and in line with Company policy.
- Ensure the safe handover of patients to/from clinical settings ensuring clear and concise communication with relevant personnel.
- Accurately complete all appropriate documentation in accordance with company policies and submit within required timeframes.
- The accurate recording of all journey information such as deterioration in patient’s health, accidents and incidents or any other required documentation as required.
- Be flexible in attitude to meet the constantly changing nature of care and service delivery.
- Undertake required learning and ensure that this is put into practice and maintain personal CPD via our online training portal every 12 months.

Experienced Ambulance Technicians and Paramedics
Hearts First Ambulance Service have opportunities to join our Repatriation Team. We have shifts available immediately on our long-distance ground ambulance transfers. There is also availability on our HDU shifts.
Essential Experience:
- At least 3 years’ NHS front line experience.
- Full UK manual driving license - (No more than 3 endorsement points)
- HCPC or HPAC Registration
- Enhanced DBS Certificate, issued within the last 12 months or be subscribed to the DBS update service.
- Up to date CPD Mandatory Training Certificates (further details on request)
- Applicants require excellent communication skills and a good level of English (spoken and written).
Responsibilities:
- You will be responsible for transporting patients from UK or European pick up points which could be airports, ferry terminals, hospitals, hotels or other healthcare facilities and ensuring they are safe and well cared for throughout the journey to their destination.
- Be responsible for the patients clinical and other care needs to the highest possible (gold) standards.
- Ensure that all patients are treated with dignity and respect in communications and actions, in particular taking account of cultural differences and disability and in line with Company policy.
- Be flexible in attitude to meet the constantly changing nature of the repatriation sector.
